PriceRunner Top Searches Tool
We've just added yet another tool to Dawjee.com!
This time it's another logging application that logs PriceRunner's top searches.
The tool will help users to identify terms that are popular but with low Ranking Difficulties. Our previous logging tools for Google Trends and Yahoo Buzz tended to have terms of a more media orientated nature. And were therefore more suited to news and entertainment sites. This new PriceRunner Logger should be of more interest to webmasters with retail websites.
To use the tool, please click here.
Great news!
Morning everybody!
Well last night I had a text from Jon so I figured I'd share with everyone as I think it's a nice coupe of little achievements...
Achievement #1 - dawjee now has an official PageRank (PR) of 4/10! :)
Achievement #2 - Our adsense bannner has just broken the barrier to pay for our hosting which means we're no longer out of pocket for our little venture into providing a community tool! Hurrah!
Anyway I should be working so I bid you all a very fond farewell! (thanks Bilbo!)
Graphical optimisationalisms!
Along with the optimisations Jon's been working on I've made a few changes to the graphics and css for the site to make a whopping 329Kb saving PER PAGE LOAD. Hopefully this too will cut down on our resource usage, make the pages load a little faster for you guys and it's just generally good practice anyway.
Enjoy! :)
Bandwidth Issues
I've been busy lately, so haven't had a chance to write the celebrity names article that I promised to a couple of weeks ago. I'll try to do it this weekend.
Traffic on this site is growing quickly, as webmasters appear to be using the Related Searches function to drill down to long tail results.
Alas, since this was initially a designed to be a small tool for a few users, we're currently on a fairly budget hosting scheme. It appears that our banners are using up more bandwidth then our content, so we'll have to clean them up a bit.
Techy Stuff
We've done a bit of back end stuff for the site. The cron job now deletes old web pages in the database. Alas we haven't worked out a good way to delete search terms. We have about 150,000 search terms listed, though only about 10,000 are actually cached. As the others are related queries that no one's actually looked at yet.
The tables for the Yahoo Buzz, Google TrendsAll Web Pages have been standardised. The next step will be to make them a bit more presentable.
Google Trends Analysis
We have now created some reports for the search terms on the Google Trends page. These are 100 of the most popular terms searched for in google. We shall cache our results daily using a cron tab.
These reports should help users identify popular phrases that have not been well optimised by other webmasters.
They could also be used to help identify trends. As mentioned last week, we have been experimenting with popular TV events such as The Apprentice. Maybe we'll be able to use these reports other niches?
Yahoo Buzz Analysis Tool
Last week we created a script to log historical Yahoo Buzz Search Terms.
However, the tool did little more than provide a historical record of past terms.
We've now improved the tool by presenting metrics such as Ranking Difficulty and Mean Page Rank with each search term. Therefore, users can easily identify the less competitive terms.
At present, the tool is in beta here. It's not particlarly tidy, but our design team will endeavor to make it more aesthetically appealing in the near future.
Sources of Free One Way Links For New Webmasters
One of the biggest challenges facing new webmasters is acquiring backlinks for their sites.
Many new commercially orientated webmasters will have affiliate pages with zero Google Page Rank. Link exchanges will be hard to acquire as experienced webmasters will be concered about linking to bad domains. And directories often deny links to affiliate pages, especially if they're deeplinks and without Google Page Rank.
This article will therefore outline a few strategies that even new webmasters can use to create backlinks for their sites.

Some ideas for easy to optimise terms
Following on from my thoughts about optimising pages for up and coming celebrities, the recent news about the Olympics has made me think about doing similar work on sports events. Music events could be targeted too.
Tickets for both sports and music events can be big business. And the astute internet marketeer could do well if they prepared well in advance.
Below are some reports for popular sporting events:
Free Backlinks
The links on the web page reports are now dofollow for sites with non zero page ranks.
This basically means that all non zero page rank web pages listed on this site have dofollow links from this site.
To add your link to our directory, just replace www.yahoo.com with your own url, in the following example:
